How Much Do Made-to-Measure Blinds Cost?

How Much Do Made-to-Measure Blinds Cost?

Updating your window blinds is one of the simplest ways to improve the comfort, privacy and style of your home. Whether you are refreshing a single room or choosing blinds for the whole property, made-to-measure blinds offer a tailored finish that ready-made options often cannot match.

One of the most common questions homeowners ask is: how much do made-to-measure blinds cost? The answer depends on several factors, including the style of blind, window size, fabric choice, operating system and any additional features you choose.

At A1 Blinds, we make it easy to find a solution that suits your home, taste and budget. With free home consultations, free measuring, and free fitting available, our friendly team can help you explore your options and choose blinds made specifically for your windows.

What Affects the Cost of Made-to-Measure Blinds?

Made-to-measure blind prices can vary because every home and window is different. A small bathroom window will usually require a different solution to a large bay window, patio door or conservatory. Understanding the main pricing factors can help you plan your project with confidence.

Blind Style

The style of blinds you choose can significantly impact your cost. Roller blinds are one of the more affordable and versatile options, working well in bedrooms, kitchens and offices alike. Vertical blinds are a practical choice for larger windows and patio doors, while Venetian blinds offer excellent light control with a smart, timeless appearance.

Roman blinds can sit at a higher price point because of their fabric-led design and soft, decorative finish. Perfect Fit blinds, motorised blinds, and conservatory blinds may also cost more, depending on the system, frame type, and level of customisation required.

Window Size and Shape

Larger windows naturally require more material, which can increase the price. Wide patio doors, bay windows, conservatories and unusually shaped windows may also require more detailed measuring and fitting.

This is one of the main reasons made-to-measure blinds are such a worthwhile investment. Rather than trying to make a standard blind fit an awkward window, a bespoke blind is measured precisely and manufactured to suit the space. This helps create a neater finish, better light control and a more professional appearance.

Fabric and Material Choice

Fabric and material selection also play an important role in blind pricing. Simple fabric roller blinds may be more cost-effective, while premium fabrics, textured finishes, wooden slats or specialist materials can increase the overall cost.

For example, blackout fabrics are a popular choice for bedrooms and nurseries, especially during spring and summer when lighter mornings can disturb sleep. Moisture-resistant fabrics are ideal for kitchens and bathrooms, while thermal or light-filtering fabrics can help improve comfort in living spaces and conservatories.

Extra Features and Controls

Additional features can also affect the cost of custom blinds. Motorised blinds, for example, are a more premium option but offer excellent convenience, particularly for hard-to-reach windows, roof blinds or larger glazed areas.

Other features, such as blackout lining, thermal fabrics, child-safe systems, no-drill fittings and smart control options, may also influence the final price. While these additions can increase the upfront cost, they can provide valuable long-term benefits in comfort, safety and ease of use.

Are Made-to-Measure Blinds Worth the Cost?

For many homeowners, made-to-measure blinds are worth the investment because they are designed around your exact windows and requirements. They offer a cleaner finish, better functionality and a wider choice of styles compared with ready-made blinds.

A professionally fitted blind can also help avoid common issues such as gaps, uneven hanging, poor operation or incorrect sizing. This is especially important in rooms where privacy, light control, or insulation is key, such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and conservatories.

How to Get an Accurate Blind Price

Because every project is different, the best way to find out the cost of made-to-measure blinds is to get a tailored quote. This ensures your price is based on your window sizes, preferred blind styles, fabric choices and fitting requirements. At A1 Blinds, our team can visit your home, bring samples, measure your windows and talk you through the most suitable options. This makes it easier to compare colours, fabrics and finishes in your own space before making a decision.

Conservatory Blinds: Create a Comfortable Space for Every Season

Conservatory Blinds: Create a Comfortable Space for Every Season

A conservatory is one of the brightest and most enjoyable spaces in the home. Whether you use it as a relaxed seating area, dining space, playroom, home office, or garden room, it provides a valuable connection to the outdoors. However, because conservatories are built with large areas of glass, they can sometimes become too bright, too warm, or overlooked without the right shading.

That is where made-to-measure conservatory blinds can make all the difference. At A1 Blinds, we provide bespoke conservatory blinds designed to improve comfort, privacy, light control and style. With spring in full swing and summer just around the corner, now is the ideal time to prepare your conservatory for brighter days, warmer weather and longer evenings.

Why Choose Conservatory Blinds?

Conservatory blinds are designed to help you get more from your space year-round. In spring and summer, they can soften harsh sunlight, reduce glare and make the room feel cooler during the day. In autumn and winter, they can help add an extra layer of insulation, making the space feel cosier and more comfortable.

Conservatories can quickly become hot when the sun shines through the roof and windows. The right blinds allow you to manage sunlight more effectively, helping reduce heat buildup while still letting natural light into the room. They can also help protect furniture, flooring and décor from fading caused by UV exposure.

A Stylish Solution for Modern Living

Practicality is important, but conservatory blinds should also enhance your home’s look. With a wide choice of styles, fabrics, colours and finishes available, you can create a finish that complements your existing décor.

Soft neutrals such as white, cream and beige are especially popular for conservatories, helping to keep the space feeling light, open and airy. However, if you want to add more character, you can also choose bolder colours, textured fabrics or patterned designs. At A1 Blinds, conservatory blinds are made to your exact specifications, giving you control over the style, fabric, measurements and operation. This ensures a neat, tailored finish that works with the unique shape and layout of your conservatory.

The Best Blinds for Conservatories

Every conservatory is different, so the best blinds for your home will depend on the size of the space, the direction it faces, how much sunlight it receives and how you use the room.

Vertical blinds – These are a popular choice for conservatory windows and patio doors. Their adjustable slats make it easy to control light and privacy throughout the day, while their sleek design works well across large glazed areas.

Perfect Fit blinds – Ideal for uPVC conservatory frames because they fit neatly into the window or door without drilling. This creates a clean, integrated look and makes them especially useful for tilt-and-turn windows or French doors.

Pleated blinds – Offering a soft, modern appearance with practical benefits; they are particularly effective for conservatories. This is due to their ability to help regulate light and temperature while maintaining a stylish finish.

Roof blinds – These can also be an important addition, especially in south-facing conservatories or rooms that receive direct overhead sunlight. By shading the roof area, you can help make the space more comfortable during the brightest parts of the day.

Enjoy Better Light Control This Summer

As summer approaches, many homeowners start using their conservatories more often. Whether you are enjoying a morning coffee, working from home, or entertaining friends, too much sunlight can make the space uncomfortable. Conservatory blinds give you the flexibility to adjust your shading as the light changes. You can reduce it during the day, create privacy in the evening, or open the blinds fully when you want to make the most of the sunshine.

This is particularly useful during late spring and summer, when lighter mornings and longer evenings can make conservatories feel exposed. With the right blinds, you can enjoy the benefits of natural light without letting it overwhelm the room.

Improve Privacy Without Losing Style

Conservatories are often positioned at the back or side of the home, which can sometimes leave them overlooked by neighbours, gardens or nearby pathways. Blinds allow you to enjoy your space in comfort without feeling exposed. Vertical blinds, shutters and Perfect Fit blinds are all effective choices for privacy because they allow you to adjust the view in and out. This means you can maintain natural light while still creating a more private and relaxing atmosphere.

Made-to-Measure Conservatory Blinds from A1 Blinds

Because conservatories often feature unusual shapes, large windows, roof panels and doors, made-to-measure blinds are the best way to achieve a precise finish. Off-the-shelf blinds rarely provide the same level of fit, performance or style.

We offer a free home consultation and fitting service for customers across the North East and North Yorkshire. During your appointment, our team can discuss your options, measure your conservatory and help you choose the most suitable blinds for your space. This service includes free consultation, free measuring and free fitting, with friendly advice and no hidden fees.

Transform Your Conservatory with A1 Blinds

Conservatory blinds are a smart investment for any homeowner who wants to make their space more comfortable, stylish, and usable year-round. From reducing summer glare to improving privacy, the right blinds can completely transform how your conservatory feels.

At A1 Blinds, we offer high-quality made-to-measure conservatory blinds designed around your home, your needs and your personal style. Book a free home consultation today and discover how our expert team can help you create the perfect shading solution for your conservatory.

Behind the Scenes with Smile For Life Children’s Charity at A1 Blinds

Behind the Scenes with Smile For Life Children’s Charity at A1 Blinds

A1 Blinds was proud to recently welcome Smile For Life Children’s Charity to our factory and showroom as part of our new charity partnership for 2026.

The visit gave young people supported by the charity the opportunity to experience the full journey of how blinds are ordered, manufactured, sold and fitted – while also learning more about the different career opportunities available within the industry.

Managing Director Kevin Taylor said:

“Today we welcome the Smile For Life Charity, who is our chosen charity for 2026.”

To capture the day, we created a short video featuring interviews with Kevin Taylor, Paula Gascoigne, and the young people who visited A1 Blinds, highlighting the importance of creating opportunities, building confidence, and opening doors for the next generation.

Smile For Life supports children and young adults with disabilities, learning difficulties, autism, and those who may have faced difficult starts in life. The charity is passionate about helping young people build confidence, gain opportunities, and reach their full potential.

During the visit, Paula Gascoigne, Chief Executive of Smile For Life Children’s Charity, explained the importance of giving young people real-world experiences and helping businesses better understand the value these individuals can bring to the workplace.

Through initiatives such as work placements at Café Beam, the charity helps young people develop practical skills, confidence and independence in supportive working environments.

Paula explained:

“We are passionate about helping these youngsters to live life to their full potential and enjoy amazing opportunities like their non-disabled peers.”

The tour gave visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the A1 Blinds factory and showroom, introducing them to different areas of the business, from manufacturing and machinery through to customer service, sales and fitting roles.

One of the young visitors described the experience as:

“I’ve had a look at the amazing machinery. It’s just been a fantastic day, and I’d like to encourage more young people to come down and have a look.”

At A1 Blinds, we believe businesses can play an important role in supporting their local communities and helping create opportunities for young people of all backgrounds and abilities.

We’d like to thank Paula, Chris and everybody from Smile For Life for visiting us, and we look forward to continuing to support the charity throughout 2026.
