These features make our blinds ideal for healthcare settings where cleanliness and infection control are paramount. We take pride in offering competitive prices while delivering a product that meets the highest standards of performance and safety.

  • Hospitals
  • Care Homes
  • Doctors Surgeries
  • Dentists
  • Residential Homes
  • Elderly Care
  • Sure Start Centres
  • Waiting Rooms

Our range of blinds have been carefully chosen with durability and low maintenance in mind. We understand that cost is can be a major concern so we have endeavored to offer our products at extremely competitive prices without sacrificing the highest quality. A large selection of our fabrics are available with ‘Ultra-Fresh’ anti-microbial coating, which kills the MRSA superbug (amongst others) upon contact and they are also machine washable, keeping them fresh for longer.

Having blinds in a Healthcare setting provides you with a world of advantages you may never have thought of, such as:

  1. Privacy: Blinds help to maintain patient privacy by blocking the view from outside the room. This is crucial for ensuring patients have a comfortable and confidential environment during their stay.
  2. Light control: They allow staff and patients to adjust the amount of natural light entering the room, which can be essential for patient comfort, recovery, and overall well-being.
  3. Infection control: Hospital blinds are often made of materials that can be easily cleaned and disinfected, helping to reduce the risk of infection transmission in medical settings.
  4. Temperature control: They can also help regulate the room’s temperature by blocking or allowing sunlight, making the space more comfortable for patients.

Specialised coatings and finishes we offer to the Healthcare sector:

  1. Ultra-Fresh Technology Fabrics: This antimicrobial treatment offers proven protection from microbial attack by controlling the growth of unwanted microbes. When treated with Ultra-Fresh the fabric provides protection against the growth of odour-causing bacteria, fungi, mildew and moulds. It also prevents stains that can be caused by bacteria and fungi resulting in fabric that is fresher and cleaner for longer. Ultra-Fresh is recommended for use in the healthcare sector, care homes, catering facilities, schools and nurseries. With a wide range of light filtering and blackout FR fabrics available for the commercial market, it makes sense to choose window blinds treated with Ultra-fresh where antimicrobial protection is of particular importance.
  2. Coronasafe Coatings:  It is essential to make areas where people gather as safe as possible and protect against the spread of coronavirus. The unique CoronaSafe™ formula offers proven protection eliminating 99% of coronavirus from the fabric’s surface within an hour. An hour! A tremendous result when, according to the internationally recognised medical journal, The Lancet, cloth can retain the virus for up to 2 days. Where extra protection is needed, in hospitality, offices, care homes, healthcare sectors, schools, nurseries and in the home, use CoronaSafe™ window blinds in Carnival or Carnival Blackout fabric.
  3. Anti-Ligature Devices: The use of additional safety devices may reduce the risk of strangulation or injury but cannot be considered foolproof. Persons in charge of children and vulnerable people are ultimately responsible for following the safety instructions provided by us the manufacturer. It is a requirement by law that new blinds must be ‘safe by design’ or be supplied with appropriate child safety devices installed. The regulations apply in the following circumstances; Where there is a loop present in a blind it will be fitted during the manufacture with a safety device that will break under pressure. Safety devices will also be supplied to secure the cord to a wall. The standard also imposes a maximum cord and chain length and minimum fixing heights. This directly affects the minimum distance a looped control cord can be from the floor, and must (in most cases) be fixed to a wall/frame if installed by us. A1 Blinds install all blinds to comply with these regulations. We also offer a free site survey to inspect existing blinds in public buildings including schools, hospitals and offices. We will provide a detailed report on all blinds that either meet or do not meet the compliance (EN13120) and will advise on the best way to comply with the new law.
  4. Cubical Curtains & Trackings: Our cubicle tracking programme includes innovative products such as mobile cubicle track systems for flexible use of space in hospital departments such as Accident and Emergency and overhead intravenous track systems. To complement our track systems we offer disposable cubicle curtains, including the Easy-Fit product which reduces replacement times dramatically. Our disposable cubicle curtains are treated with Endurocide antibacterial formulation and they are 100% recyclable.

Smile For Life supports children and young adults with disabilities, learning difficulties, autism, and those who may have faced difficult starts in life. The charity is passionate about helping young people build confidence, gain opportunities, and reach their full potential.

During the visit, Paula Gascoigne, Chief Executive of Smile For Life Children’s Charity, explained the importance of giving young people real-world experiences and helping businesses better understand the value these individuals can bring to the workplace.

Through initiatives such as work placements at Café Beam, the charity helps young people develop practical skills, confidence and independence in supportive working environments.

Paula explained:

“We are passionate about helping these youngsters to live life to their full potential and enjoy amazing opportunities like their non-disabled peers.”

The tour gave visitors a behind-the-scenes look at the A1 Blinds factory and showroom, introducing them to different areas of the business, from manufacturing and machinery through to customer service, sales and fitting roles.

One of the young visitors described the experience as:

“I’ve had a look at the amazing machinery. It’s just been a fantastic day, and I’d like to encourage more young people to come down and have a look.”

At A1 Blinds, we believe businesses can play an important role in supporting their local communities and helping create opportunities for young people of all backgrounds and abilities.

Choosing The Right Blinds For Summer

Choosing The Right Blinds For Summer

As the days get longer and temperatures rise, many homeowners look for simple ways to keep their homes cooler, brighter, and more comfortable. Choosing the right blinds for summer can make a big difference. Whether you’re looking to manage sunlight, reduce glare or increase energy efficiency, we’re here to help.

At A1 Blinds, we offer a wide range of made-to-measure blinds designed to suit every room and every home style. Whether you want to reduce heat in a sunny conservatory, block out early-morning light in the bedroom, or create a fresh, seasonal look in your living room, the right window blinds can help your home feel summer-ready.

Why Blinds Matter During Summer

Summer can be lovely, but too much direct sunlight can quickly make rooms feel hot, bright, and uncomfortable. Large windows, patio doors, and conservatories are some of the key areas that can be affected by this.

Blinds can give you better control over how much sunlight enters your home. By closing or adjusting them during the hottest parts of the day, you can reduce direct heat and keep your home cooler without using any energy. This can be particularly useful in rooms that face the sun for long periods, such as bedrooms, kitchens, conservatories, and living rooms.

Choose Light-Coloured Blinds for a Fresh Summer Look

Colour plays an important role when choosing blinds for summer. Light-coloured blinds, such as white, cream, beige, and soft grey, can help create a bright and airy feel while reflecting more sunlight than darker shades.

These colours are ideal if you want to refresh your home for the season without making the space feel heavy or enclosed. Light tones work especially well with roller blinds, Venetian blinds, pleated blinds, and Perfect Fit blinds, giving your room a clean and modern finish while still offering practical light control.

Consider Blackout Blinds for Bedrooms

Blackout blinds are often associated with winter months, but they are just as useful during summer. With lighter mornings and longer evenings, bedrooms in particular can be a cause for concern.

Made-to-measure blackout blinds are designed to reduce unwanted light, making them a great choice for bedrooms, children’s rooms, nurseries, and any space where darkness and privacy are important. They can also help reduce the impact of direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day, keeping the room more comfortable.

Use Venetian Blinds for Flexible Light Control

Venetian blinds are a brilliant summer option because they allow you to adjust light levels throughout the day without fully closing off the room. Their horizontal slats can be tilted to soften harsh sunlight and maintain privacy, whilst still allowing natural light to brighten up your home.

They are a practical choice for kitchens, bathrooms, home offices, and living spaces. Faux-wood-style Venetian blinds are particularly common in rooms where moisture and humidity are issues. With their ability to withstand these elements, they are a practical choice for homeowners upgrading bathrooms or kitchens.

Keep Conservatories Comfortable

Conservatories, orangeries, and sunrooms can become very warm in summer due to the amount of glass they contain. The right conservatory blinds can help reduce glare, improve comfort, and make the space more usable throughout the day.

Perfect Fit blinds, pleated blinds, vertical blinds, and roof blinds are all popular options for conservatories. These styles can be tailored to suit individual window panels, doors, and roof areas, giving you a neat made-to-measure finish. By controlling the amount of direct sunlight entering the space, conservatory blinds can help turn your extension into a more enjoyable room during summer.

Think About Motorised Blinds for Convenience

When it comes to high windows, roof blinds, or hard-to-reach spaces, cleaning can become a real issue. Motorised blinds offer a convenient and modern solution. With simple controls, you can adjust your blinds at different times of the day without specialist equipment.

This is especially useful in sunny rooms where light levels change quickly. You can close blinds during peak sunlight hours and open them again in the evening when temperatures begin to cool. Motorised blinds are ideal for modern homes, conservatories, bedrooms, and larger living areas.

Balance Privacy, Shade, and Natural Light

The best summer blinds are not about completely blocking sunlight. In many rooms, you may want to enjoy natural light while reducing glare and maintaining some privacy.

Vertical blinds are ideal for patio doors and larger windows due to their adjustable slats, giving you complete control over light and visibility. Roller blinds are another great choice, offering simple, clean finishes that work well in any room. Depending on the fabric you choose, roller blinds can provide anything from soft filtered light to full blackout coverage.

Find the Best Summer Blinds for Your Home

Every home is different, so the best blinds for summer will depend on your room layout, window size, décor, and the amount of sunlight each space receives. A sunny conservatory may benefit from pleated or Perfect Fit blinds, while a bedroom may need blackout blinds to improve sleep. A kitchen or bathroom may suit easy-clean Venetian blinds, while a living room may call for stylish roller or vertical blinds.

At A1 Blinds, we make it easy to find the right solution. Our team can guide you through fabrics, colours, styles, and practical features to help you choose blinds that look great and perform well throughout the warmer months.

Top Window Blind Styles Refreshing Homes This Spring 2026

Top Window Blind Styles Refreshing Homes This Spring 2026

As we move into Spring 2026, homeowners across the UK are looking for simple yet effective ways to refresh their living spaces. One of the most impactful upgrades you can make is updating your window blinds. The right style not only enhances your interior design but also improves light control, privacy, and energy efficiency as the days grow longer and brighter.

Here are the top window blind styles set to transform homes this spring.

Roller Blinds: Clean, Modern & Versatile

Roller blinds continue to be a go-to choice for modern homes. Their sleek design and wide range of fabrics make them perfect for creating a fresh, minimalist feel. This spring, lighter tones and soft textures are becoming increasingly popular, helping to bounce natural light around your room and improve the light.

They work particularly well in living rooms, where balancing light and privacy is key. With options including blackout and light-filtering fabrics, roller blinds offer both style and practicality for everyday living.

Venetian Blinds: Stylish Light Control

Venetian blinds remain a classic option that never goes out of style. Available in aluminium, wood, or faux-wood finishes, they let you adjust the slats to filter light levels to your preference.

This makes them an excellent choice for kitchens and bathrooms, where both durability and ventilation are important. Faux wood Venetian blinds are especially popular in these spaces, offering the look of real wood with added moisture resistance – ideal for busy households during spring and beyond.

Perfect Fit Blinds: Sleek & Practical

Perfect-fit blinds are becoming increasingly popular for homeowners seeking a sleek, invisible look. Designed to fit directly into uPVC window frames without drilling, they are ideal for modern windows and doors.

They’re particularly effective in conservatories and kitchens, where large glazed areas can lead to excessive sunlight and heat. By providing a snug fit, these blinds help regulate temperature while maintaining a clean, contemporary finish.

Vertical Blinds: Ideal for Larger Spaces

Vertical blinds are a practical and stylish solution for larger windows and patio doors. Their adjustable slats make it easy to control light and privacy throughout the day – perfect as spring brings longer daylight hours.

They are especially suited to living rooms and conservatories, where wide openings are common. Modern fabric choices have moved far beyond traditional designs, offering softer textures and on-trend colours that complement today’s interiors.

Blackout Blinds: Better Sleep as Days Get Lighter

With earlier sunrises becoming more noticeable in spring, blackout blinds are a must-have for bedrooms and nurseries. Designed to block out external light, they help maintain a restful sleeping environment even as daylight hours increase.

They’re also a great addition to living rooms used for watching TV or relaxing in the evenings, providing enhanced comfort and privacy when needed.

Conservatory Blinds: Privacy & Comfort

As conservatories become increasingly used in the springtime, the right blinds can make all the difference. Conservatory blinds help control glare, reduce heat build-up, and create a more comfortable environment for relaxing or entertaining.

Options such as roof blinds and Perfect Fit systems are particularly effective, allowing you to enjoy natural light without the drawbacks of excessive heat or brightness.
