In the era of sustainable living, solar-powered blinds are not just a trend; they are revolutionising the way we think about window treatments. Combined with the advancements in motorised blinds, they represent a significant leap forward in home automation and energy efficiency.
Motorised Blinds: A Blend of Efficiency and Convenience
Motorised blinds, known for their convenience and ease of use, are opened and closed by a small, motorised unit that turns the bar to which the blind is attached. These motors are highly efficient, using minimal power to operate. They offer flexibility in power sources, with options to connect to the mains supply or use rechargeable batteries. This versatility makes them suitable for various settings, from new builds to retrofitting in existing homes.

Matfen Hall Hotel Golf & Spa, set amidst the picturesque Northumberland countryside, offers a tranquil retreat for its guests. However, a significant challenge was presented in its Orangery, impacting the comfort and functionality of this otherwise idyllic space.
Major Shading Issues
The primary issue in the Orangery was the lack of effective shading solutions. The extensive roof area produced excessive brightness and heat, particularly during sunny days. This made the space uncomfortably warm and compromised the ambient charm Matfen Hall is known for.
Solution
To address this, our team conceptualised and designed custom solar protective coating (SPC) roof blinds. The design process involved meticulous consideration of the Orangery's unique architectural elements. Our goal was to create a solution that would not only address the practical concerns of heat and brightness

Overview of Thermal Blinds
Thermal blinds are not just window dressings; they're ingenious solutions for maintaining a comfortable home environment whilst reducing energy consumption. Whether you're battling chilly winters or scorching summers, these blinds play a pivotal role in regulating indoor temperatures.
Benefits of Thermal Blinds
Energy Efficiency Enhancement
By insulating windows, thermal blinds significantly reduce the need for heating and cooling systems, leading to lower energy bills. They work as an effective barrier against temperature changes, keeping warmth in during the winter and heat out during the summer, thus reducing the reliance on central heating and air conditioning.

Balancing Aesthetics with Practical Comfort
A Starbucks outlet faced a unique architectural challenge. Behind its inviting full glass façade, an issue of excessive sunlight began to compromise the customer experience. The task at hand was to find a solution that mitigated the sunlight issue, aligning with Starbucks' commitment to sustainability and customer comfort.
The Challenge
The café's design, while aesthetically pleasing, brought about a practical dilemma. The seating, arranged along the glass wall, exposed customers to the harsh glare and heat of the morning sun. Traditional shading solutions were impractical due to the seating alignment and were financially unviable, given the prohibitive costs of installing electrical points for wired motors. The need was for a solution that was not only effective in controlling sunlight but also cost-effective and minimally invasive in its installation.
